Guìlín (Cheenese: 桂林; Zhuang: Gveilinz) is a prefectur-level ceety in the northeast o the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Fowkrepublic o Cheenae, sittin on the wast bank o the Li River. Its name means "forest o Sweet Osmanthus", owin tae the lairge nummer o fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees locatit in the ceety. In 111 BC, durin the reign o Emperor Wu o the Han Dynasty, Shi An Coonty wis established, which coud be regardit as the beginnin o the ceety.

Guilin prospered in the Tang an Song dynasties but remained a coonty.
