The Foucault pendulum, or Foucault's pendulum, named efter the French physicist Léon Foucault, is a simple device conceived as an experiment tae demonstrate the rotation o the Yird. While it haed lang been kent that the Yird rotates, the introduction o the Foucault pendulum in 1851 wis the first simple pruif o the rotation in an easy-tae-see experiment.
