Deutsch: Die bayerischen Rauten im Schildhaupt verweisen auf die Wittelsbacher Herzöge als Gründer der befestigten Deggendorfer Neustadt auf der Au zwischen den älteren Stadtteilen Propstei und Altstadt im 13. Jahrhundert. Die silbernen Wellen im Schildfuß stehen für die Lage der Stadt an der Donau. Das zinnenbekrönte offene Stadttor symbolisiert sowohl die Befestigung als auch den Stadtstatus des Gemeinwesens seit dem 14. Jahrhundert.
