The Estádio do Maracanã (Inglis: Maracanã Stadium, staundart Brazilian Portuguese: [esˈtad͡ʒju du maɾakɐˈnɐ̃], local pronunciation: [iʃˈtad͡ʒu du mɐˌɾakɐˈnɐ̃]), offeecially Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho (IPA: [iʃˈtad͡ʒu ʒoɦnaˈliʃtɐ ˈmaɾju ˈfiʎu]), is an open-air stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Ained bi the Rio de Janeiro state government, it is, as is the Maracanã neighborhuid whaur it is locatit, named efter the Rio Maracanã, a nou canalized river in Rio de Janeiro. It wis opened in 1950 tae host the FIFA Warld Cup, in which Brazil were beaten 2–1 bi Uruguay in the final.
