The Siverskyi Donets ([Сіверський Донець] error: {{lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)) or Seversky Donets ([Северский Донец] error: {{lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)), uisually simply cried the Donets, is a river on the sooth o the East European Plain. It is the fowert langest river in Ukraine. Donets oreeginates in the Central Russian Upland, north o Belgorod, flows sooth-east throu Ukraine (Kharkiv, Donetsk an Luhansk Oblasts) an then again throu Roushie (Rostov Oblast) tae jyn the Don River, aboot 100 km (62 mi) frae the Sea o Azov. The Donets is the fowert lairgest river in Ukraine an the biggest in the Eastren Ukraine. It is a important soorce o fresh watter in the east o the kintra. It gies its name tae the Donets Basin, kent commonly as the Donbass, a important coal minin region in Ukraine.
