The Disruption o 1843 wis a schism or diveesion within the established Kirk o Scotland, in that 450 evangelical meenisters o the Kirk breuk awey, ower the issue o the Kirk's relationship wi the State, tae form the Free Kirk o Scotland. It cam at the end o a bitter conflict within the established Kirk, an haed huge effects nae anerly within the Kirk, but an aa upon Scots ceevic life.
