Deforestation, clearance or clearin is the remuival o a forest or staund o trees whaur the laund is tharefter convertit tae a non-forest uise.[2] Examples o deforestation include conversion o forestland tae ferms, ranches, or urban uise. The maist concentratit deforestation occurs in tropical rainforests.[3] Aboot 30% o Yird's laund surface is covered bi forests.[4]
