In computin, cross-platform saftware (multi-platform, or platform independent saftware) is computer saftware that is implemented on multiple computin platforms.[1] Cross-platform saftware mey be dividit intae twa teeps; ane requires individual biggin or compilation for each platform that it supports, an the ither ane can be directly run on ony platform withoot special preparation, e.g., saftware written in an interpretit leid or pre-compiled portable bytecode for which the interpreters or run-time packages are common or staundart components o aw platforms.[2]
