The concerto grosso (pronounced [konˈtʃɛrto ˈɡrɔsso]; Italian for big concert(o), plural concerti grossi [konˈtʃɛrti ˈɡrɔssi]) is a form o baroque muisic in which the muisical material is passed atween a smaw group o soloists (the concertino) an full orchestra (the ripieno or concerto grosso). This is in contrast tae the solo concerto which featurs a single solo instrument wi the melody line, accompanied bi the orchestra. [1]
