Chun Doo-hwan (Korean pronunciation: [tɕʌn.du.ɦwan] or [tɕʌn] [tu.ɦwan]; born 18 Januar 1931) is an umwhile Sooth Korean airmy general that served as the leader o Sooth Korea frae 1979 tae 1988, rulin as an unelectit leader frae December 1979 tae September 1980, an the fift Preses o Sooth Korea frae 1980 tae 1988. Chun wis sentenced tae daith in 1996 for his role in the Gwangju Massacre, but later pardoned bi Preses Kim Young-sam wi the advice o then Preses-elect Kim Dae-jung, that Chun's admeenistration haed sentenced tae daith some 20 years earlier.
