Casita del Infante
The Casita del Infante is a historic building in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, constructeit as a private home for the Infante Gabriel o Spain, hence its name. The small residence was built during the late 18t century during the reign o his faither Charles III o Spain. The Casita wis built in an era where it wis popular for nobles an Ryalty tae have a small "hideaway" tae entertain informally; the maist famous example o this is Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon at Versailles.

atween 1771 and 1773. The biggin wis designed in Neoclassical style bi the prominent architect Juan de Villanueva whose best-kent building is the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Villanueva also designed the Casita del Príncipe, the private residence o Gabriel's aulder brither Infante Carlos, Prince o Asturies. The twa "casitas" form a pair, with the Casita del Infante having the alternative name o the Casita de Arriba (the upper casita) indicating its position relative tae the Casita del Principe.
