Calcitonin (an aa kent as thyrocalcitonin) is a 32-amino acid linear polypeptide hormone that is produced in humans primarily bi the parafollicular cells (an aa kent as C-cells) o the thyroid, an in mony ither ainimals in the ultimopharyngeal bouk.[3] It acts ae reduce bluid calcium (Ca2+), opponin the effects o parathyroid hormone (PTH).[4]
