Brian David Josephson, FRS[3] (born 4 Januar 1940), is a Welsh theoretical pheesicist an professor emeritus o pheesics at the Varsity o Cambridge.[5] Best kent for his pioneerin wirk on superconductivity an quantum tunnellin, he wis awairdit the Nobel Prize in Pheesics in 1973 for his prediction o the Josephson effect, made in 1962 when he wis a 22-year-auld PhD student at Cambridge. Josephson is the anly Welshman tae hae wan a Nobel Prize in Pheesics. He shared the prize wi pheesicists Leo Esaki an Ivar Giaever, wha jyntly received hauf the awaird for thair ain wirk on quantum tunnellin.[6]
