The becquerel (seembol Bq) (pronoonced: 'be-kə-rel) is the SI-derived unit o radioactivity. Ane Bq is defined as the activity o a quantity o radioactive material in which ane nucleus decays per seicont. The Bq unit is tharefore equivalent tae an inverse seicont, s−1. The becquerel is named efter Henri Becquerel, who shared a Nobel Prize wit Pierre an Marie Curie in 1903 for thair wirk in discoverin radioactivity.[1]
