Ball lightning is an unexplained atmospheric electrical phenomenon. The term refers tae reports o luminous, uisually spherical objects which vary frae pea-sized tae several meters in diameter. It is usually associatit wi thunnerstorms, but lasts considerably langer than the split-seicont flash o a lichtnin bolt. Mony o the early reports say that the baw eventually explodes, sometimes wi fatal consequences, leavin behind the odor o sulfur.
