Acanthocephala (Greek ἄκανθος, akanthos, thorn + κεφαλή, kephale, heid) is a phylum o parasitic wirms kent as acanthocephalans, thorny-heidit wirms, or spiny-heidit wirms, chairacterised bi the presence o an eversible proboscis, airmed wi spines, that it uises to pierce an hauld the gut waw o its host.
