The letter Ъ (italics Ъ, ъ) o the Cyrillic script, an aa spelled jer, is kent as the haurd sign (твёрдый знак [ˈtvʲɵrdɨj ˈznak]) in the modren Roushie an Rusyn alphabets, as yer golyam (ер голям, "big yer") in the Bulgarie alphabet, an as debelo jer (дебело їер, "fat yer") in pre-reform Serbie orthografie.[1]
