Vana-Vigala estate (German: Fickel) dates frae 1420, when a first, fortifee'd manor hoose wis built in the vicinity o the present biggin. The present-day biggin housomeivver wis erectit in 1772-1775. It is built on soft grund an haes haed tae be strenthened on several occasions. In 1858 and 1864, restorations were carriet oot an the façade chyngit. Durin the revolution o 1905, rioters put fire tae the hoose, wi hivy damage ensuin, includin the loss o the 20,000 volume librar. The hoose wis efterwairds restored, an bi 1914 haed regained maist o its earlier leuk. In the 18t century, a romantic pairk an a deer pairk wis laid oot aroond the manor.[2]

Durin its amaist entire history, the estate belangit tae the Uexküll faimily, who awned the estate frae 1420 till 1919, when it wis expropriatit follaein Estonie's declaration o unthirldom. The biggin haes subsequently servit as different educational institutions.[3]
