In 1997, he wan the race with the Joest Racing team, drivin a Tom Walkinshaw Racing-designed an Porsche-pouered WSC95, efter bein a late inclusion in the team follaein Davy Jones' accident that eventually ruled him oot o the race. Aw o his wins syne then have come drivin an Audi prototype, except in 2003, when he drove a Bentley prototype.

Kristensen is the son o renouned Dens racin driver Carl Erik Kristensen (1942-2013), who wan amang ithers the Danish Rallycross Championship 1980. The first successes in motorsport wis achievit bi the trained banker awready in the 1980s in various kairtin championships. Atween 1982 an 1989, he was fower times an ance each Italian, Dens, an Scandinavie kairt champion. In 1991 he wan the German Formula 3 championship. He is best kent for his successes in various endurance races an tourin caur championships.

2002 an 2005 he wis votit Denmark's Sportsman of the Year.

Kristensen lives wi his pairtner Hanne Andersen an their three childer in Denmark.
