The municipality haes a aurie o 185.23 square kilometres (0.56% o the surface o the state)[1] an is bordered tae the north bi the municipality o Ziracuaretiro, tae the east bi Salvador Escalante an Ario, tae the sooth bi Gabriel Zamora an Nuevo Urecho, an tae the wast bi Uruapan The municipality haed a population o 12,294 inhabitants accordin tae the 2005 census.[2] Its municipal seat is the ceety o the same name.
