Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Italian: Provincia del Verbano Cusio Ossola) is the northmaist province in the Italian region o Piemont. It wis creatit in 1996 through the fusion o three destinct regions which haed previously been pairt o the Province o Novara. The aurie flankin the wastren shore o Verbano (or Lago Maggiore) forms the eastren pairt o the province; Cusio (or Lago d’Orta) an its environs form the soothren pairt; while the north an east o the province consists o the Ossola, a region o Alpine muntains an valleys.
The province haes a total population o some 160,000, distributit ower an aurie o 2,255 km², wi the biggest population centres being its caipital Verbania on the shores of Lago Maggiore, Domodossola the main toun o the Ossola, an Omegna at the northren end o Lago d’Orta.
