Pogranichny (Roushie: Пограни́чный‎) is an urban locality (an urban-teep dounset) an the admeenistrative centre o Pogranichny Destrict o Primorsky Krai, Roushie, locatit 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) east o the Roushie border wi Cheenae an 140 kilometers (87 mi) northwast o Vladivostok. Population: 12,221 (2002 Census);[2] 11,333 (1989 Census).[4]

Transportation[eedit | eedit soorce]

If ane wur tae travel frae Vladivostok tae Manchurie alang Harbin–Suifenhe Railway (the umwhile Transmanchurian rail line), Grodekovo will be the last Roushie station afore entering Cheenae. Acause currently (November 2008), thare is nae direct passenger service frae e.g. Vladivostok tae Harbin, ane needs tae chynge at Grodekovo frae a train comin frae Ussuriysk tae ane leavin for Suifenhe, an vice versa. The rail service operates anerlie twice a week, housomeivver, so maist border crossins are bi bus or caur.[5]

Notable fowk[eedit | eedit soorce]

Roushie actor Leonid Yarmolnik an Mayor o Barnaul Vladimir Kolganov wur born in Grodekovo. Roushie poet Arseny Nesmelov dee'd here.
