1990s uprisin[eedit | eedit soorce]

Durin the 1990s Bahraini uprisin, a polisman frae the Al-Saeedi faimily, whose first name wis no revealed, wis allegedly killed in Eker efter being surroondit bi three fowk whom the govrenment says are vandals an then killed bi ane o those three fowk, a man frae Nuwaidrat cried Isa Qambar. Qambar wis executit on 26 Mairch 1996. A memorial for Isa wis done in the veelage on 26 Mairch 2008. Sheikh Ali Salman, the leader o Al Wefaq in Bahrain wis present.

2011-2012 uprising[eedit | eedit soorce]

On 14 Februar 2011, polis uised tear gas against protesters in the veelage; they wur pairticipatin in kintra-wide protests.[1] The mairchers wur demandin the release o those detained durin earlier protests.[2]

On 28 December 2011, protesters threw Molotov cocktails at riot polis at the entrance o the veelage which led tae the burnin o ane o the riot polis's jeeps.[3] The security forces in the burned jeep tried tae quickly get it oot o the veelage as it wis no completely burned doun.
