Neftchala (Neftçala) is a rayon on the shores o the Caspian Sea. Its name is Persie نفت چاله Naft-Chala an means ile trench.

History

The Neftchala region wis formit as destrict in the composition o Azerbaijan on 11 Februar 1940. Till this time it wis locatit in the urie o modren Salyan, an durin the year it become pairt o the Khilly region, organized on 24 Januar 1939. Due Neftchala wis exceptionally industrial region, it wis liquidatit in December 1959 an unifeed wi the Salyan region. Housomeivver, efter 4 year it wis isolatit frae Salyan region an became independent industrial zone. But seemilar mixed seestem for control did no justify itsel, an ance again Neftchala region wis again liquidatit in 1965 an became pairt o the Salyan. The region become independent efter 7 year on 27 Aprile 1973.
