Imatra is a toun an municipality in eastren Finland, foondit in 1948 aroond three industrial dounsets near the Finnish–Roushie border. In the course o the last 50 years, this amorphous group o dounsets haes grown intae a modren industrial toun dominatit bi Lake Saimaa, the Vuoksi River an the border. It gained its municipal chairter in 1971.

On the ither side o the border, 7 kilometres (4 mi) awa frae the centre of Imatra, lees the Roushie towun o Svetogorsk. Saunt Petersburg is situatit 210 km (130 mi) tae the sootheast, Finland's caipital Helsinki is 230 km (140 mi) away and Lappeenranta, the nearest Finnish toun, is 37 km (23 mi) awa. Imatra belangs tae the historic province o Soothren Finland an the region o Sooth Karelie.

An Art Nouveau or Jugend style castle, currently kent as Imatran Valtionhotelli, wis built near the rapids in 1903 as a hotel for tourists frae the Roushie Imperial caipital Saunt Petersburg.

The main employers are Stora Enso Oyj, Toun o Imatra, Ovako Bar Oy Ab an the Finnish Border Guard. As o October 2003, total nummer o employees wis 12,423.[6] As of December 2004, 1,868 employees were employed by the Town of Imatra.

Imatra is the birthplace o National Hockey League players Jussi Markkanen an Petteri Nokelainen.

The current mayor o Imatra is Pertti Lintunen.

In motorsport history, Imatra is best kent for its road races (umwhile TT-race) from 1963 to 1986. Frae 1962 tae 1982 it wis the hame o the Finnish motorcycle Grand Prix.

Durin the Continuation War, Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim met wi Adolf Hitler in secrecy near the toun for the umwhile's 75t birthday.
