Houn (Arabic: هون Hūn) is an oasis toun in the northren Fezzan region o soothwast Libie. The toun is the caipital o the Al Jufrah Destrict.

Houn is aboot haufway atween Sabha an the Mediterranean coast in the Sahara desert. The modren ceety o Houn is 150 years auld.
The natural landscape aroond Houn mainly consists o black basalt muntains, wi extensive sand dunes, an date palm trees - Phoenix dactylifera groves indicatin oases.
Veelages o Waddan an Socna are the nearest settlements. There is a ruined ksar an several mosques in the veelage o Waddan. Aw three touns are oases characterized bi the abundance o natural springs an date palm trees.

The oreeginal toun, named Miskan an aroond 500 years auld, is locatit 4 km. sootheast o the modren toun. There are ongoin archaeological excavations at the site.

Durin the colonial Italian Libie period, Houn wis the admeenistrative caipital o the Italian Fezzan region, cried Territorio del Sahara Libico. Houn wis the Italian military center o soothren Italian Libie, an wis no pairt o the naitional Fowert Shore territory o the Kinrick o Italy as Italian Tripolitanie an Italian Cyrenaica wur.
A sma Libie Italian community o 1,156 fowk lived in Houn, which wis cried Homs in the colonial years. In the 1939 census they wur 3% o the total population o 35,316 in the ceety. They disappeared frae Houn efter Italy's loss o Libie in Warld War II. An important Libie Italian born in Houn wis the internaitionally renouned painter Mario Schifano (1934-1998), .
In the 1930s the Italian govrenment made some important improvements tae the sma toun, includin a connection tae the coast via the new Fezzan Road.
