The Goths (Gothic: *Gut-þiuda,[1] *Gutans[2]; Auld Norse: Gutar/Gotar; German: Goten; Laitin: Gothi; Greek: Γότθοι, Gótthoi) wur an East Germanic fowk, twa o whose branches, the Visigoths an the Ostrogoths, played an important role in the faw o the Roman Empire an the emergence o Medieval Europe.
