This road map image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Oakham labelled.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Creating the map

Data was collected by volunteers at the Rutland Mapping party over one weekend using handheld GPS devices, notebooks, digital cameras, and voice recordings

Map was edited using JOSM software to mark roads, rivers, etc. over the top of the tracklogs showing where people had travelled

Map was rendered using Osmarender software, to produce the outlined roads, symbols, labels, etc.

SVG map was edited using Inkscape to place labels in more readable positions

Map was exported from Inkscape to the PNG file shown here
