Esgairgeiliog (kent as Ceinws an aw) is a veelage in the valley o the Afon Dulas in Powys, Wales. Frae1536 till 1974 the veelage lay in the historic coonty o Montgomeryshire (Sir Drefaldwyn).
The Afon Glesyrch joins the Dulas in the middle o the veelage.
The ERA slate quarry lay in the Glesyrch valley, ahint the veelage.
The Centre for Alternative Technology lies aboot a mile sooth o the veelage.
Railway [edit]
Esgairgeiliog wis a station on the narrae-gauge Corris Railway, although prospective passengers haed tae cross the river intae Merionethshire (soothren Gwynedd the day) tae catch the train. A steeply-gradit branch line crossed the river an led tae the ERA quarry, carryin slate tae Machynlleth for transshipment.
The station haes recently been structurally an cosmetically restored as the Corris Railway is being reinstatit back tae Esgairgeiliog.
The station at Esgairgeiliog is the basis for Ulfstead Road, ane o the Mid Sodor Railway's stations in the Railway Series.
