Dio wis an American hivy metal baund led bi vocalist Ronnie James Dio formed in 1982 efter he left Black Sabbath. In an interview, available on the special edition re-release o Holy Diver, Dio states that he never intended tae begin a solo career. His intention wis tae form a new baund wi fellow umwhile Black Sabbath member, drummer Vinny Appice. Namin the baund Dio made sense frae a commercial standpoint, as the name wis already well-kent at that time. Dio in Italian means "God".
