Daihatsu
Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (ダイハツ工業株式会社 Daihatsu Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha , Template:Tyo, OSE: 7262) is a Japanese manufacturer o caurs, well kent for its smaller models an off-road vehicles. Mony o its models ar also kenr as kei jidōsha (or kei caurs) in Japan. Its headquarters ar located in Ikeda, Osaka Prefectur.
The name "Daihatsu" is a combination o the first kanji for Osaka (大) an the first o the wird "engine manufacture" (発動機製造 hatsudōki seizō ) ; when put together they ar pronounced "dai hatsu."
Daihatsu wis formed in 1951 as successor organisation tae Hatsudoki, an bi the 1960s haed startit exportin caurs tae Europe, although it did na enjoy any major sales success until well into the 1980s.
Since Februar 1992 in North Americae, it haes been common for Toyota tae distribute Daihatsu models.
