It wis foondit in 1831[1] an established as a municipality in 1879.

Corralillo is locatit on the northren coast o Cuba, in the north-wastren corner o the Villa Clara province, borderin the Matanzas Province tae the wast an the Bay o Cadiz tae the north. The cays o Falcones, Blanquizal an Verde o the Sabana-Camagüey Airchipelago as well as a multitude o reefs are locatit at sea north o Corralillo.

In 2004, the municipality o Corralillo haed a population o 27,581.[3] Wi a total aurie o 843 km2 (325 sq mi),[2] it haes a population densitie o 32.7 /km2 (85 /sq mi).
The municipality is dividit intae the barrios of Ceja de Pablo, Corralillo, Palma Sola, Perú, Sabana Grande, Santa María an Sierra Morena.[1]
