Cienfuegos is a ceety on the soothren coast o Cuba, caipital o Cienfuegos Province. It is locatit aboot 250 km (160 mi) frae Havana, an haes a population o 150,000. The ceety is dubbit La Perla del Sur (Pearl o the Sooth). Cienfuegos literally translates tae "Hunder fires".

Near the entrance tae Bahia de Cienfuegos (bahia meanin "bay") is Castillo de Jagua (full name Castillo de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de Jagua), a fortress erectit in 1745 for protection against Caribbean pirates.
