Chimbarongo, Chile, is a ceety an commune locatit 160 km (99 mi) soot o Santiago in the Colchagua Province o the O'Higgins Region. mony o the fowk o Chimbarongo make their living weaving wickerwork, or "mimbre", baskets.

According tae the 2002 census o the National Statistics Institute, Chimbarongo spans an aurie o 497.9 km2 (192 sq mi) an haes 32,316 inhabitants (16,612 men an 15,704 weemen). o these, 16,889 (52.3%) lived in urban auries an 15,427 (47.7%) in landwart auries. The population grew bi 5.4% (1,651 persons) atween the 1992 an 2002 censuses.[1]

As a commune, Chimbarongo is a third-level admeenistrative diveesion o Chile administered bi a municipal cooncil, headed bi an alcalde who is directly electit every four years.
Athin the electoral divisions o Chile, Chimbarongo is representit in the Chamber o Deputies bi Mrs. Alejandra Sepúlveda (PRI) an Mr. Javier Macaya (UDI) as pairt o the 34t electoral district, (thegither wi San Fernando, San Vicente, Peumo, Pichidegua an Las Cabras). The commune is representit in the Senate bi Andrés Chadwick Piñera (UDI) an Juan Pablo Letelier Morel (PS) as pairt o the 9t senatorial constituency (O'Higgins Region).
