Housomeivver, there are twa rivers that staund oot for their importance: the Santa Lucía River an the Río de la Plata, which is actually a sea o salt water. On the coastline formed bi the Río de la Plata, there are mony spa touns an their respective beaches.

Santa Lucia River, meanwhile, forms the northren bundary wi Florida, which is separatit bi a brig kent as the Paso Pache.

Agricultur is ane o the principal contributors tae the economy o Canelones. The cultivation o grapevines is widespread, an the aurie is a major contributor tae Uruguay's burgeonin wine industry. In addition cereal crops, principally maize are produced, as are a wide variety o fruits an vegetables. Tourism, in the eastren coastal aurie, is an aw a major source o income for the depairtment, an haes enabled the development o important urban centres, such as Atlántida.
