The blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) is an ungulate species o antelope native tae the Indian Subcontinent that haes been classifee'd as near threatened bi IUCN syne 2003, as its range haes decreased sharply durin the 20t century. The native population is stable, wi an estimatit 50,000 individuals.[1]
The blackbuck is the anly livin species o the genus Antilope.[2][3] Its generic name stems frae the Laitin wird antalopus, a horned ainimal.[4] The specific name cervicapra is componed o the Laitin wirds capra, she-goat an cervus, deer.[5]
